Hanna Sender recently graduated from The New School University where she earned both a BA in Culture and Media Studies from Eugene Lang College and a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons the New School for Design. She is originally from Laguna Beach, CA and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Her interests included information design, data driven journalism and social media.
Hanna strives for beautiful and simple solutions to understanding complex information. In her information design she has learned to understand hierarchies of information, shifting through multiple levels of data to parse out what is important and what is relevant. She enjoys the challenge of matching the right information system to the right data, finding multivariate ways to both draw conclusions and avoid false assumptions, all while revealing the stories within the data.
Beyond beautiful illustrations of data, she sees data visualizations as a tool for meaningful journalism and storytelling -- a medium for representing significant connections.
